Welcome to Sha's Place

Hey Friends!! Thanks for visiting my blog. After a lot of tribulation, I finally decided to create my own little place in cyberspace. This is meant to be a place where friends are welcome to visit, chat, share their own ideas and hopefully work towards building better understanding of different cultures. That is the main purpose of my blog- " Celebrating Diversity and Building Harmony" .

Well first of all let me introduce myself. I am a Muslim female from Pakistan who has had the good fortune of travelling and been exposed to different cultures. Belonging to a family of immigrants starting from my grand parents who migrated from Afghanistan and settled in India. My parents later migrated from the United Hindustan to Pakistan and I have so far in my life literally immigrated thrice every time starting a fresh new life in a new world.

My journeys gave me the opportunity to meet new people and learn from them. For me this beautiful diversity of the human race is like a beautiful patchwork quilt made by God, with each piece/race adding value to the entire quilt. The fine stitches that bind us together sometimes run smoothly, but are mostly rugged and sometimes attached at very delicate points. Only when we handle these difficult stitches with care and treat them with love can we feel the full warmth and glow of this beautiful quilt.

How do you think we can work together to create this harmony by celebrating diversity?

Some topics of discussion that I had in mind are Cultural Stereotypes, De-mystifying culture, Celebrating my culture. ..Infact, Culture and Harmony I feel are such vast topics, you can fit almost anything into it. So will post my thoughts on these soon.

I will also be writing about my interests, perceptions and generally anything that affects me as a person. I am sure we all experience similar emotions in our own lives and can relate to them in one way or another. I am especially interested in hearing your views on my posts. That's one thing I love to do- think, analyse and where appropriate apply my learnings. Feel free to agree/disagree/advise. I am sure I can learn so much from you.
